Meet Janice Foot
Janice began her career as a Municipal Recreation Programmer, with a passion for community development and accessibility. Her pathway shifted when testing showed her son to be on the Autism Spectrum, she re-directed her energies into advocacy for her son and for children like him. Exploring treatment options, seeking out programs became her focus.
Core Values
Janice’s core values are steadfast and beat at the heart of all the work she does. She credits her core values to her late Grandma Buckland, teaching her kindness, generosity and humbleness.
About Janice
Determined to find strategies that would help their son grow into the life they knew him capable of, Janice and her husband researched several therapies that claimed to temper many of the behaviours and symptoms lumped in with their son’s diagnosis.
Not every path was successful, but the family persevered and have found several methodologies that, when used consistently and in tandem, have proven very beneficial not just to their son, but to those suffering from:
- ADHD
- Learning Disabilities
- Dyslexia
- Autism/ASD
- Tourette’s Syndrome
- Brain Injury
- and more
As their son’s integration progressed, Janice began enrolling in courses to better understand the whys and the hows of each treatment, and she is now certified in Irlen® and HANDLE® screenings, and is a Bowen/Bowtech Bodywork practitioner.

Janice used her life experiences opened Doors of Opportunity which she then cultivated into creating Branching Out Centre. Using a range of innovative approaches, Janice is able to help children to learn better and to more readily engage in their surroundings. She is able to help parents better see the path to optimizing their child’s opportunities, and to share her expertise in navigating bureaucracy and red tape. Janice is able to help children and adults alike who struggle with physical ailments that limit mobility and strength.
In her free-time, Janice can be found with her family and friends more often then not in nature around a campfire by the lake; or cross-country skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking the Credit Valley trails; at her local curling club coaching special Olympics or playing in her various leagues. Janice likes to play baseball with her beloved teammates and playing tennis. She also loves to read and adores her book club pals.
